Technical difficulties have kept us from posting recently, but we have returned!
I was thrilled to be taken to a football game at Wembley Stadium.
Not soccer, but a real, honest-to-God, regular season NFL game. A friend of mine gave me a ticket to the game. We had awesome seats right near the field. The best part was it America’s Team, my hometown favorites, the Dallas Cowboys!
In case you can’t tell, that was a photo of Dez Bryant scoring a 60 yard touchdown! The Cowboys won handily, and I had a fantastic night. Every now and then, we miss life in America. Having a hot dog and overpriced beer and watching football is just a small way of bringing a piece of America here.
That being said, we’ve been enjoying ourselves lately as winter sets in.
We’re experiencing our third winter here now, and I don’t think we’ll ever get used to it. I mean, the cold doesn’t bother me as much as it does Libby and the cats. The hardest part to get used to is how early it gets dark here. When sunset is before 5:00, I don’t know if that will ever be ‘normal’ to me.
Duke for one is oblivious to it all. He is busy experiencing first after first. He rolled over for the first time! He is growing so fast! Another tooth has come in, and several more are on the way. He’s not even 5 months old, and he’s already outgrown everything in the 3-6 month range. He’s even started eating solid food!
It’s so rewarding to see him begin to interact with us. He talks up a storm, all the time. He’s starting to tell us things he likes (pears!) and letting us know when he doesn’t like something (bed time… he’s been firmly resisting that until he’s well and truly knackered). We love the chatter! Play time, especially as we get ready for bath time is full of noise and laughter.
Why yes, that is a handprint on my face.
Hope you’re well! Take care!
Derek and Libby
PS if you follow the link to my hometown’s wiki page, I love the fact that the only pictures they have are a map and a water tower. Now that’s a small town!
