Well, as is not uncommon these days that Libby is away, I have found golf and NCIS to be a much bigger distraction than I anticipated! I have been negligent on making a regular post, so here is my attempt to catch up on the last couple of weeks.
The weekend before last was fantastic! It was a four day weekend for me, given my normal Friday off and the bank holiday on Monday. I took full advantage of it! I played golf twice that weekend with a British co-worker of mine and his family. They were great (and she was SOOO much better than me, it wasn’t even funny), and I have had a blast getting every ounce of sunshine I can get. It is starting to get very noticeable. Every week the sun sets 15 minutes earlier now. It’s starting to get a chill at night. I feel a bit like the Starks (Game of Thrones reference) when I keep telling everyone ‘Winter is coming…’
That didn’t stop me from going out and being a tourist over the weekend as well! I went into London the other two days and had a blast. The first day I went through the British Museum. I had wanted to go through for a while now, and I finally made it. It was awesome! I got to see the Rosetta Stone in person! Such an important piece of history…
I also went through the Egyptian section and got to see all sorts of mummies, even a mummy cat!!
I threatened to wrap up our tom in toilet paper and have him waiting for Libby. It was so much easier to make a threat like that when she’s half a world away. 🙂
I was also able to have a couple of things I’ve been missing in my life, namely Five Guys Hamburgers and Chipotle! Five Guys just opened up here not long ago, and there was a line out the door. Still… worth it! I also got to see Covent Garden Market, one of the local neighbourhood markets that are so great to shop around in.
The next day, I went out back into London and caught a musical. I went to go see ‘Once’.
It was great! I was so glad I got a chance to go see it in person. It’s nerdy, I know, but I love musicals. I was even in a musical once when I was in high school!
Fast forward to this weekend, it was a lot more business-like. Sure, I got to play more golf (catching a theme here?), but I set about to the task of making the house spic and span again. You see, Libby is coming back home this weekend, and I went about cleaning the house. Vacuuming, mowing the lawn, cleaning bathrooms… you get the point. My goal is to have everything shining by the time she gets back, and that’s no easy chore! 🙂
So I hope everyone is doing well and congratulations to Zlata for her engagement! Very happy for you!
Also, feel free to drop an email or comment to let us know how you’re doing! We’d love to hear from you!
